Hyundai Casper SUV debuts – 1.0L turbo, NA engines

According to the automaker, the Hyundai Casper was named after a certain kick-flip technique in skateboarding, here implied to signify a “change of direction” in text translated from Korean on its official website. This SUV will be offered at launch with a choice of two engines – a 1.0 litre MPI naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0 litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol, the latter producing 100 PS and 172 Nm in the i10 N Line.

For India, Hyundai is also rumoured to offer the Casper with a 1.2 litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 87 PS and 120 Nm in the Hyundai i10 Nios.

The Casper has also been tipped to receive an electric version in 2023 – now that will do an impression of a junior apparition. This will come courtesy of a BorgWarner integrated drive module that combines the electric drive motor, gearbox and power electronics in a modular unit.
