Phoenix Orange Pearl was announced as a new colour for the Honda City sedan a couple of weeks ago, joining the hatchback in receiving the hue. We’ve now gotten our hands on the tangerine four-door – in range-topping e:HEV RS hybrid form – and shot a full gallery for your perusal.
Speccing the colour will cost buyers an extra RM400 – the same surcharge that is levied on Platinum White Pearl. An unfortunate side effect of this is that the paint is also now a cost option on the City Hatchback, whereas it used to come free.
No changes to the prices themselves, however – the City sedan continues to start at RM84,900 for the 1.5 S, rising up to RM89,900 for the 1.5 E, RM94,900 for the 1.5 V, RM99,900 for the 1.5 RS and RM111,900 for the e:HEV RS you see here. Phoenix Orange Pearl joins a now six-strong colour palette that also includes Ignite Red Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Metallic and Lunar Silver Metallic; the last two are only offered on the petrol variants.
Launched in August 2023, the facelifted fourth-generation City sedan continues to be powered by a 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT.
The e:HEV RS, meanwhile, gets a 109 PS/253 Nm electric motor, juiced by an Atkinson-cycle version of the 1.5 litre DOHC i-VTEC mill. This four-pot produces 72 PS from 5,600 to 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm from 4,500 to 5,000 rpm; it can drive the car directly via a single-speed transmission and lock-up clutch when it is most efficient, such as at highway speeds.
