U-turn at Puchong Selatan Toll Plaza on LDP should be kept open for motorists, says Subang Jaya mayor

Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim has said the U-turn at the Puchong Selatan Toll Plaza on the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) should remain open for motorists travelling from Cyberjaya towards Seri Kembangan, The Star reports. He added that a letter will be sent to the LDP concessionaire to discuss the matter.

According to Amirul Azizan, Litrak was asked not to close off the U-turn to prevent severe congestion. The closure of the U-turn would make it more costly for motorists heading to Taman Equine from Cyberjaya as they would have to pay toll twice if they missed the turn-off into Jalan Putra Permai.

Amirul Azizan revealed that a meeting was held by Subang Jaya city council (MBSJ) with Litrak, Puchong MP Yeo Yee Bin and Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Salimmi Che Adzmi to discuss options regarding the matter.

“During the meeting, Litrak representatives were unwilling to consider our request not to close the U-turn. Litrak representatives say the closure was due to accidents, but according to our statistics, there were only three accidents per year,” said the Subang Jaya mayor.

On March 13, Litrak announced that the U-turn at Puchong Selatan Toll Plaza would be closed from April 1. Following this, Abbas Salimmi took to social media to March 18 to say that Litrak had only notified MBSJ and did not inform him about the planned closure. “This is very disappointing, as previous discussions had been held to find ways to reduce congestion and one of the proposed solutions was to keep the U-turn open,” Abbas Salimmi wrote.
