The Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) has identified several strategic locations for the installation of EV charging stations, Bernama has reported.

Locations identified include Laman Perdana, PPj Complex, Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Taman Saujana Hijau, Marina Putrajaya, Putrajaya Sentral and Putrjaya Lake Club.

These charging stations will offer AC charging points which will charge vehicles at up to 7 kW, PPj president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud said. This announcement was made during the launch of a new EV charging station at the Putrajaya Equestrian Park, in conjunction with Gentari.

At present, there are 23 charging stations operational in Putrajaya, and the corporation aims to have 50 charging stations by the end of the year. It aims to have 500 EV chargers operational by 2030, according to the report.

This initiative supports Putrajaya’s aspiration towards becoming a low-carbon emissions city, while catering to the growing demands of EV users, Fadlun was quoted as saying in a statement.

Earlier this year in July, Bernama reported that the number of EV charging stations in Malaysia increased by 12.5% as of June 25 compared to the first quarter of this year, with 2,585 EV chargers installed nationwide as of that date. This figure excludes EV charger installed in Labuan.
