VIDEO: 2021 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Preview

With Italian motorcycle maker Moto Guzzi celebrating its centenarary this year, a preview video of the 2021 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello has been released. Due for its public unveiling at the EICMA show in Milan this November, the V100 Mandello, the name honouring the town of Mandello del Lario in northern Italy where Moto Guzzi has made its home since 1921.

Perhaps the V100 Mandello is indicative of a new direction for Moto Guzzi going forward, after the release of the Moto Guzzi V85TT, a departure from its usual range of retro styled V-twins. Clad in red, the V100 Mandello is a sport-touring motorcycle in style popular right up to the late 90s, when adventure-touring machines started coming into vogue in the market.

Not a lot is shown in the video but one interesting snippet is possibly the use of active aerodynamics, which was shown by Moto Guzzi’s sister brand Aprilia some while ago. A panel on the tank is shown to move, either to direct air towards or away from the rider, which would be an interesting feature.

There is also an adjustable windshield, electrically powered, and the TFT-LCD we first saw in use on the V85TT is found inside the cockpit. Expect to see a full suite of electronic riding aids and other riding conveniences that we have to come to expect from Moto Guzzi.

One big change is the addition of liquid-cooling, something essential for motorcycles in the bid to conform to ever stringent emissions regulations. What do you think? Is Moto Guzzi on the right track with this sports-tourer? Leave a comment with your thoughts and opinions below.
