Celebrating 10 years in the manufacture of performance enhancements for small-displacement motorcycles, home-grown Malaysian ECU manufacturer FSR Technology has launched the next generation Tuneboss Gen2 ECU. Upgradeable in stages, the Tuneboss Gen2 ECU offers riders the ability to unlock advanced tuning functions for their motorcycle or scooter as budgets and requirements permit.
Development of the Tuneboss Gen2 ECU was done in collaboration with local motorcycle racing teams over the past few years and track testing with the ECU has yielded positive results. Motorcycle models supported by the Tuneboss Gen2 ECU include the Yamaha FZ150i, Legend, Nmax V1, Y15ZR, YZF-R15 and YZF-R25 along with the Honda Wave Fi, CBR250 and RS150R, while the Yamaha MT-15 and Yamaha Y16ZR are new additions to the range.
“Our focus for Gen2 was to make this technology and reliability more affordable, while at the same time offer new high-end features for more advanced customers. To achieve this, our Gen2 ECU starts at a significantly lower price but is upgradeable in three stages. When fully upgraded, it has more features and performance than our Gen1 product,” said FSR Technology CEO Farhan Ali.
Features for the Gen2 ECU can be unlocked at any Tuneboss authorised dealer with the base ECU starting at Stage 1 and pricing starts at RM299 (for the Lagenda and Wave) compared to the previous generation ECU that was priced at RM499. “Stage 1 is good enough for most users that just wants a bit more oomph out of their machine. Suitable for weekend track warriors who may have some light bolt-on performance bits on their bikes,” Farhan explains.
Moving to Stage 2 costs RM200 and unlocks features such as full fuel and ignition adjustments, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) control, Throttle Acceleration Compensation and more. New to the Gen2 ECU is Stage 3, enabling advanced tuning features such as dual injectors, electric water pump control and fuel injection angle adjustments, while adding RM250 to the Stage 1 and 2 pricing.
A truly Malaysian product – 100% designed, engineered and manufactured in Malaysia – Tuneboss was the first mass-market ECU in the world to offer Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for wireless programming. The Tuneboss Gen2 ECU integrates with upgrade modules such as a quickshifter and launch control, features commonly found in large displacement and more expensive bikes and more performance modules are currently under development.
